A look at the above pic may suggest some vehicle straight outta sci-fi flick. But this is Hammonds’ ODV (Omni-Directional Vehicle); and soon it is going to be on Boeing’s team, helping in the production of 787 Dreamliner. Hammonds Technical Services has announced that it has received order for four of its G-90 Series ODVs. These vehicles are designed to help in movement and handling of bulky materials, all of which is made quite easy thanks to vehicles’ zero-turning radius and a towing capacity of 90,000 pounds. Production of 787 Dreamliner calls for obvious movements of heavy parts and this is where these ODVs will come into play.

All of us would love to see letters that used to be transformed into stylish and attractive art objects, wouldn’t we? The WEB2DNA had already provided a way to display our websites into personal pieces of art. Now, words that we use can be viewed in attractive three-dimensional formats too. 26Gallery has come up with this technique of turning words into attractive three-dimensional structures. Tao Ma has delivered yet another concept and this one is about a watch. The ‘Vain Watch’ concept takes the traditional concept of a wrist watch to a whole new level in technology. His liking for everything with LEDs is again brought to fore with vain watch. The hollowness in trying to keep abreast of time is reflected with all the technological brilliance. The time is displayed on the skin rather than on a tangible surface. The watch is also designed to reflect time with changing colors and different levels of brightness. And for those with an ability to tell time in Chinese, there’s an option to do so as well. All in all a really cool concept by the designer.

Continuous practice and hard work makes a person perfect in his/her specific art, but passion for ones work encourages the guy to create something extraordinary and out of this world. ‘Jimi’s Nightmare,’ the first carving in Bruce’s series of distorted guitars, belongs to the similar class of arts that take off straight form the heart, and a bit innovation and insight, to add finesse and magnetism. The electric guitar is an authentic, if not perfect, piece of sculpture. Sharp curves and sleek glossy finish makes it unique in its own way, a tribute to Picasso’s decomposed instrument paintings. The guitar was specially finished for The Zimmer Children’s Museum in Los Angeles and unveiled at ‘Show & Tell: The Art of Harmony.’
