LED technology is far getting outpaced by the OLED revolution when it comes to lighting solutions and even smaller display screens. But when it comes to taking the first step towards something new, it is still the bigger brother of the diode family that takes the first step. The world’s first 3D LED screen was unveiled by NewSight Corp as they used LED lights much like pixels in a normal display to create a 180-inch giant 3D screen. The firm goes on to claim that they can put together four such displays to create a 360-inch 3D display that is all LED lit!

Not all that has a little makeover to achieve the steampunk look is actually steampunk. Aesthetic with function, give the detailed ambiance to the steamed creation making it fit to lure the nerds. This steampunk sewing machine is a blend of artistic functionality, which grabs the chilled brain of the ones who still have bending for the age old sewing machines and the real steampunk, which of course goes without saying. Becky Stern has steamed an old sewing machine with brassy bits, the machine’s propeller spins with the movement of the drive wheel and the machine still does all the chores of the sewing machine. Steampunk maniacs could catch a glimpse of this machine and many more steamed goodies at First Studio in downtown Phoenix on December 5, where these will be displayed as part of a steampunk show.

Did you think the double-layered Blu-ray was the ultimate storage one could fathom? Then you have a reason to be moved. Spotted is Pioneer’s new layered optical disc that boasts of a decisive 400GB data storage capacity. The 16-layer optical disc draws reminiscence from the good old Blu-ray discs, but Pioneer’s disc is made up in a different reflective material, as it uses a similar head to read the disc as the Blu-ray. We don’t know, given the changing trends in the storage devices, how long the optical discs will survive, but there is a possibility that Pioneer sees a bright future in the market, and that’s why the maker’s wish to build better and more powerful 1TB discs by 2013. The optical discs will be available only in read-only format until 2010, where after, rewritable discs shall also be available.

All cameras come with nearly similar features, with slight modifications here and there. Generally speaking, not many can be distinguished from each other, however, there shall be no such distinguishing problem with this one. Finally Nikon has revealed the D3X as its flagship digital SLR that we had been waiting on for some time now. There couldn’t be anything more to the enthusiasm of the photographers, who will now have a medium-format camera in a handheld format.
The full-frame DSLR from Nikon is outfitted with a 24.5 megapixels with an ability to capture five frames per second. Along with a native 6048×4032 picture, the D3X has an optional GPS and Nikon FX format CMOS sensor. The DSLR has a shutter releasing time of 0.04 seconds and shouting readiness of about 0.12 seconds after a cold start. The ,995 Nikon D3X also coming later this month also touts of wide operating range of ISO sensitivity of 100 to 1600 to nearly 3,200, accompanied by a low noise performance.

Gearing for a release in Hong Kong this month, the Mo1 is a phone intended for kids 6 to 12 years old, with both safely and independent features. With kid’s abduction rates rising these days, there is a need of safety devices for them. This phone with no numbers on the keypad, and an embedded GPS-based “Find Me Service” is an ideal security gadget to let the parents know of their child’s whereabouts by just calling on them. The phone has a retail price of HKD 1280 (~5), and has a speakerphone and a speed-dial facility.
