Apple’s R&D has always been under the scanner, and it is no surprise that its latest 3-D patent has set the rumor mills running overtime. If these rumors are to be believed, one can expect a gaming platform where 3D video can be viewed without the cumbersome glasses. With the figure making little sense to laymen, the most relevant interpretation that one can draw from it is the possibility of viewing 3D images on a flat surface. Apparently, Apple is facing stiff competition from Sharp on this front. The basic premise of this innovation is the tendency of tiny variant angles on the viewing screen to focus the picture into a viewer’s eye in a marginally shifted position, thus offering a 3D stereo view. Apple has always been synonymous with technological evolution. And, we expect that its entry into the gaming sector will be nothing short of a revolution. The death knell for the Xboxes and PS3s has already started ringing as 3D gaming is now close to realization.
